Lake Suur-Onkamo is approximately 12 kilometres long, approximately 5 kilometres wide and its surface area is approximately 35 km². The deepest point of the lake is approximately 15 metres. Directly in front of the area, where our cabins are located, is a small uninhabited island Haapasaari, which protects the lake shore from the wind and storms blowing from the open lake. Our beaches are south-facing, sandy, gradually deepening and child-friendly. The water of Lake Suur-Onkamo is clean and fish-filled.
There are fishing permits of the local administration ready for people staying in the cabins. However, adults need to obtain state permits for fishing with lures and nets.
Nature surrounding the cabin area is ideal for mushroom gathering and berry picking. There are a lot of e.g. rasberries close to the area. There are also many currant bushes and a couple of apple trees in the area.
Its known that anyone hasn't seen any snakes in the area for the past 70 years.
