Suonenjoki is an important strawberry cultivation area in Finland. In the area of Suonenjoki, we cultivate strawberries in 400 hectares which means 10 % of the whole strawberry cultivation area in Finland. In the nearby communities, strawberries are cultivated in about 200 hectares. So about 15 % of the whole strawberry cultivation area in Finland is found here in the surroundings of Suonenjoki.

We also need foreign labour, about 3000-4000 workers every summer, for picking strawberries and taking care of strawberry plants. In addition to Finnish labour we have workers from Estonia, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Tšek Republic, Germany, Austria, Italy and Spain.

The strawberry picking season lasts from the end of June till the beginning of August.
