Eija Repo, organ, cantor of the mass
Pentti Lahti, saxophones
Mikko Perkola, viola da gamba and vocal
Panu Savolainen, vibraphone
Festival takes a false start already on Sunday 19.5. in the form of a jazzmass in the Kerava church. The cantor Eija Repo and saxophonist Pentti Lahti have been collaborating in the church quite much in the past and this time they have formed an interesting group to play the mass tunes.
The grand old man of the Finnish saxophone Pentti Lahti has always been interested in playing with string players, for example with cellist Marko Ylönen some years ago. This time the collaboration takes place with viola da gamba player Mikko Perkola.
The group is augmented with a young vibraphone player Panu Savolainen. He's been getting much recognition lately with his own group Herd and also in other lineups.
It's legitimate to expect high quality music from this interesting ensemble.
