Synnyin Rovaniemellä 1973. Valmistuin taiteen maisteriksi Lapin yliopistosta vuonna 2000. Olen työskennellyt vapaana taiteilijana valmistumisestani lähtien. Minulla on ollut yksityis-, ryhmä- ja yhteisnäyttelyitä Suomessa, Ruotsissa, Norjassa, Saksassa, Itävallassa, Venäjällä ja Japanissa. Aloitin taidemaalarina, mutta pian päädyin erilaisten materiaalien ja tekniikoiden pariin. Työskentelyssäni näkyy kiinnostus käsillä tekemiseen ja käsityöhön. Olen tehnyt teoksia neulalla ja langalla sekä manuaalisella kirjoituskoneella. Tuotannostani ei ole erotettavissa selkeää teemaa, ellei yhteiskunnallisiin ja ideologisiin rakenteisiin kohdistuvaa mielenkiintoa pidetä sellaisena. Jotkin aiemmat teokseni ovat käsitelleet Lapin kulttuurista identiteettiä, erityisesti joulupukkiturismia kriittisessä hengessä (ks. Contemporary Santa Claus Artist Association). Vuoden 2007 marraskuusta olen työstänyt Lapin yliopiston taiteiden tiedekunnassa väitöskirjaa, jossa tarkastelen suomalaisten kuvataiteilijoiden asennoitumista taiteen hyödyntämiseen. Väitöskirjatyöni sisältää taideproduktion. Teen tutkimusta osana Suomen akatemian rahoittamaa tutkimusprojektia (ks. Research).

Kalle Lampela was born in 1973 in Rovaniemi, Lapland, in Northern Finland. He graduated from University of Lapland in 2000 with master of art (MA). Lampela has worked as an artist since graduation and he has had solo and group exhibitions in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Austria, Russia and Japan. Lampela started as a painter but soon he got into the world of different materials and media, at the moment he is interested in crafts. There is no specific theme throughout his career that he would have favoured, unless the interest to social and ideological structures of reality be the one. Some of the earlier works were connected to the cultural identity of Lapland, especially critically applied to the Santa Claus tourism phenomenon in Finnish Lapland (ch. Contemporary Santa Claus Artist Association). Since the end of 2007 Lampela has worked on doctorate in art in University of Lapland. In his doctorate Lampela discusses what kind of attitudes Finnish visual artists take toward utilising art socially and economically. Lampelas doctorate is comprised of written research and two exhibitions and one intervention as art production. His doctorate is part of the research project funded by the Academy of Finland (ch. Research).
