NW-SE elongated, brighter core in the middle. Supernova 2009an (~15 mag) was visible 80% of time with averted vision. This supernova was discovered by Finnish astronomers Päivinen and Kehusmaa, but sadly they didn’t report it immediately and Italians stole their honor.
