Catwoman falls for canines!

Suomeksi
I have not been a dog fan since I was a child unlike many other dog fans and breeders have been. I liked cats very much and if somebody would have said about fifteen years ago that in the future I will own four dogs, I think I would not have believed that.. But so happened!
When I was a child I always had cats. We had also cows and I liked them, especially the little calves.
However in this picture there is not a calf of a cow, it is a calf of a reindeer. ;-) I think this picture was taken in summer 1974. This calf had lost her mammy and we took her as our pet. She was called Rapeli. We fed her by a bottle until she learnt to eat compact food. Oh, I should be telling about dogs, not about reindeers... At home we had dogs too, my father’s mixed Finnish Spitzs. But I liked only cats!

The first time when I felt like a dog fan was when the mixed Spitz Töpö came to us. That was in 1978. He died in an accident couple years later, and after that we got black mixed Spitz Turre. But I did not feel like a real dog fan yet. ;-)
My next experience of a dog was in autumn 1991 when I had already moved away my childhood home. Roope was my first own dog. He was a mixed dog too. His father was a Finnish Hound and the mother was a Beagle. With Roope I got to know how is life with a dog and I started to dream about a Golden Retriever.. I got my first Golden Retriever, Toni, in December 1993. Now I was a real dog fan, practically a golden fan! My next Golden Retriever, Luke, came to us in the next summer, 1994.

From Golden Retrievers to Pugs

How did I get interested in Pugs? Earlier in my opinion the dog must be at least the size of a Golden Retriever. Once I watched a Finnish TV-series “Metsolat” in the 90’s. There was a pug called Tassu. He was sleeping between his owners. That´s when it happened: I got the PUG FEVER!! I started to get to know Pugs as a breed and find any possible information about the Pugs. This project lasted many years. I was thinking about taking a puppy pug, but then I heard that Milla, eight years old Pug Lady, was looking for a new home for her pension days. So, Milla moved to us in spring 2001 and she charmed us, our relatives and friends straight away.
Not a pug without the another one.. By spring 2002 we got another Pug Lady, Miina. She was just eight weeks old little puppy when we got her. During living with Miina I became interested in breeding Pugs. So I decided to take a basic course of breeding.

Aatuutilullaa... where did the name come from?

It was very difficult to find a suitable name for my kennel. I tried to invent names by linking together names of my Pugs. Then I found the name Aatuutilullaa, when I was thinking totally different things. And I think Aatuutilullaa is very suitable name for kennel of Pugs! Aatuutilullaa can be almost translated into an English word “Lullaby”. And Pugs like to be in your lap and sleep beside you. If you sit somewhere, the Pug comes straight away in your arms. If you lay down, the Pug comes sleeping beside you! I have to admit that many many times I have fallen asleep when Pugs have been snoring beside me.

"Aatuutilullaa, let the sleep become.."

I got the name of the kennel in January 2005. I am going to breed as my hobby healthy, happy, definition of breed agreeable Pugs to be a members of a family and friends for hobbies. Our own dogs live with us as the members of our family. And just like I told, we also sleep with our Pugs!
I am a member in The Finnish Kennel Club, The Finnish Dog Breeders Club, The Pug Club of Finland, Uudenmaan Mopsiystävät ry. and Oulun Koirakerho.
Special thanks to Heikki and Mirva about translating in English.
With Pug regards
