Lesson 139: The Harmonic Major Scale

The Harmonic Major Scale

This is a C harmonic major scale. The first half is like a major scale and the second half is like a harmonic minor scale.

Harmonic Major Scale Harmony

Below you can see the seventh chords of the C harmonic major scale. They are Cmaj7, Dm7b5, Em7, Fmmaj7, G7, Abmaj7#5 ( = C/Ab) and Bdim.

As it happens, every single one of them is of a different type. Like the harmonic minor scale, the harmonic major scale is a harmonically very rich scale. It contains the chord types maj7, maj7#5, m7, mmaj7, m7b5, 7 and dim - one of each.
