Welcome to
Keijo Viljanen’s homepage. My main personal details are:
I was born
in 1938 in Tampere (Finland), where I lived until 1959. I attended the
secondary school Tampereen lyseo in 1950-58.
After having studied German at the University of Turku and economic sciences at the Turku School of Economics (Finland) and German at the University of Tübingen (Germany) I worked as a teacher and since 1975 as the headmaster of a secondary school until 2001 when I was retired.
I am
married with two adult sons, one grandson and one granddaughter.
My hobbies
are
cross-country skiing in the winter and nordic
walking in the summer,
the history of medieval Britain and the European
history of the 1920s and 1930s,
English literature and
aviation: even though my pilot’s licence for
motor gliders is unfortunately expired.
The latter
hobby has also produced a work on the origin and development of aeronautical
terminology which is linked with this homepage.
If you want
to contact me, please use one of these addresses:
keijo.viljanen@pp.nic.fi or keijo.viljanen1@pp.inet.fi
You can write
to me in English, German (my first foreign language), Swedish or Finnish (my
mother tongue).
Extracts
from the second, improved edition of my book (Wing, aile, Flügel) on
aeronautical terms are followed by the homepage.
