THE BEGINNING

The Dahlbom family: Rolf, Thea, Carina and Ani acquired their first Skye in 1970 from Hällebergets Kennel. The breeder, Solveig Söderholm, who was Rolf Dahlbom's sister, wanted the whole litter entered to a Puppy Match. Our puppy dog, Hällebergets Hep-Othon won and that sparked it off! At the end of the year, we travelled to Stockholm International Show with our eight-month old dog.

Our next Skye was also a male, Hällebergets Jocko-Moco. Both of them gained International and Nordic (i.e. Finnish,Swedish and Norwegian) Champion titles. The bitch, Hällebergets Dolly, was given to our daughter Carina for taking care of puppies and adult Skyes in Hällebergets Kennel. Dolly came to us in 1974. Later we acquired from Hjördis Westerholm two bitches, Dancer of Skyeline and Grace Shadow of Skyeline who did well in the showring.Grace

So far we have bred 41 litters. 51 Finnsky Skyes have gained International Champion titles, and altogether we have bred 113 Champions. Our kennel has been awarded the Vuolasvirta-prize (1986) by the Finnish Kennel Club for successful breeding. The Finnish Terrier Club has awarded our kennel the Breeder's Plaquet in 1990. The Finnish Dog Breeders' Association (SuKoKa) awarded us the Breeder's Prize in 2001.

Finnsky breeder groups have won BIS 60 times. Top producing dams, Finnsky Glacier and Finnsky Tazzee have won BIS with their progeny groups. Our kennel has won the Breeder of the Year competition in 1992 and in 2004, and placed 2nd in 1991, 3rd in 1998, 2003 and 2005. This competition is organised by the Finnish Kennel Club.

After Rolf Dahlbom's passing in 2009, the kennel is now owned by Thea and their daughter Carina Kitti.
