Six German musicians from Berlin (East Germany) founded the band Rammstein


In 1995
The first album "Herzeleid" was started to record in Stockholm in Polar-Studio with the Swedish producers Carl- Michael Herlöffs and Jacob Hellner. The first single of the cd was "Du riechst so gut". "Herzeleid" cd was published in autumn. Rammstein was on their first tour with Projeckt Pitchfork.


In 1996
Rammstein had a short tour with Ramones and Clawfinger, too. The American director David Lynch has chosen 2 Rammstein songs for his film "Lost Highway": "Heirate mich" and "Rammstein". The second album "Sehnsucht" was begun to record. The producers were Jacob Hellner and Rammstein.


In 1997
The cd "Sehnsucht"  was published at the end of the summer and it became number one in the charts. It already became platinum disk  before it was sold in the shops. "Sehnsucht" cd has a single called "Du hast" and it´s the one of the most popular hit of Rammstein. "Herzeleid" album sold over 250 000 times, too.


In 1998
Rammstein was rewarded with the biggest German music prize "Echo Award" because of the best video ("Engel"). In addition they got "German Viva Comet"-prize because of the best live show. Rammstein made their own version about "Stripped" song by Depeche Moden. "Herzeleid" and "Sehnsucht" were sold over 2 million times around the world.


In 1999
They got Echo prize because of the most influential German performer abroad. Rammstein was on tour with KISS. The album "Live aus Berlin" includes the biggest hits of Rammstein and it was recorded in Berlin and published in August. This album was one of the best they ever produced.


In 2000
The year 2000 was quite a quiet period for Rammstein. The new album was started to do at the beginning of this year and its name was "Mutter". The producer was still Jacob Hellner. In December everybody, who wanted, was able to download a mp3-file the hit "Links 2 3 4" on Rammstein´s official site.


In 2001
The new single "Sonne" was published at the beginning of the year. An interesting video was included, too. The new album "Mutter" was published in April and it was on the list quite a long time in Finland. This year was historical, because Rammstein arrived the first time in November in Finland.


In 2002
Rammstein was rewarded "The Echo Award" again and now because of "Best Nu-Metal Band" and a Kerrang Award because of "Best International Live Band". They released "Mutter" and "Freuer frei" singles. In the summer Rammstein had the European Tour once again and they performed among other things in Provinssirock here in Finland, too. In November Rammstein nominated for "Best National Act" at the MTVE Awards, and Till released his poetry book, Messer.
