The story of Fulminate began as Jani got Squier electric guitar at the end of the summer 97. He decided to build a band and asked
Janne Laine to play solo guitar. Niko Niskala ended up playing bass. They practiced at Jani's appartment house's club room trying to play Metallica with a guitar and a bass connected to one amp. Jani played rhythm with acoustic guitar. All they needed was a drummer and a training place.
Hideyuki Imai started playing drums and they got a training place from Kemijärven Lukio. This way was born a band called Future Shock.
The only thing Future Shock did was one recording and a music video. Future Shock's songlist was following:
| Orion/Seek And Destroy
Fade To Black
The Show Must Go On |
Hide left the band in the spring 98. The summer 98 Future Shock had a break. In the fall they started looking for drummer and ended up with Toni Jyvälä. Janne started playing bass and Niko switched to keyboards.
The name changed to Fulminate.
With Hide's digital 4-tracker Fulminate recorded three songs:
| Yyz
Ytsejam
The Show Must Go On |
The band played the first gig under the name Fulminate at Kemppa Crash 1999. They played:
| Ytsejam
Leave That Thing Alone
Yyz
La Villa Strangiato |
Next Friday Fulminate played at night cafe Akvaario and played same set with Party In Simon's Pants added to songlist.
Next summer was break but in fall Fulminate continued playing and started playing and composing their own songs. Toni Jyvälä left the band because of the musical skills.
Mikko Laitila replaced him. Fulminate started to get ready for recordings in November 1999. Recordings started at the end of December in KC-studios at Polar Comp Oy, Finland, Kemijärvi.
Demo was ready in April 2000. You can read more about the demo in the demo-section at this site.
Keyboard player Niko left the band in April 2000 and was replaced by Hannu Ahokas. The reason to Niko's retirement was his lack of motivation.
24th April Fulminate had a gig in Mestarin Kievari in Takiainen's EP promo party. Fulminate tried succesfully cooperation with MC
Sankari by covering Bomfunk MC'ses BIG hit Freestyler. Carry on with the Freestyler... Or will your heart go on like Celine Dion, karma chamelion...
