Päiväkunta is at 62 degrees north latitude in Central Finland, 10 km northeast from Vaarunvuori hill. The village is surrounded by high hills and a big, deep and beautiful Lake Päijänne, which you can easily see in any map about Finland, in Northern Europe. There are more than 100 people and a nesting pair of Whooper Swans living in Päiväkunta, " Sunshine Village", allmost beside Putkilahti, the village of the year 1995 in Finland. During the summer there are three times more people in our village, when people come to their summer cottages.
The enormous power line of the planned pump-fed power station in Vaarunvuori hill would go through Päiväkunta, threatening also the Whooper Swans, national bird of Finland. There is even a possible place for a pump-fed power station also there.
"Daylight Village" a daydream?
Vaarunvuori hill movement had an little home office in Päiväkunta nearly 13 years, until 25.6.1997.
