Muonio’s Ski College is a combination of cross country skiing/biathlon training and studying in the Vocational College Lappia. The Trade School offers many different lines of studying which you can choose from:

-Electrician basic examination

-House building basic examination

-Auto mechanic basic examination

-Restaurant cook’s basic examination

 

In addition Muonio’s High School offers you few courses from for example Physics, Chemistry, Math, English, German and French.

 

 

Training

Training includes personal strength and endurance training, supervised training with the instructor, skiing and roller skiing training in the Olos Ski Center , in Muonio. All of the students will be offered specific weekly training programs round the year by the trainers. The training programs will be created by the biathlon trainer Niko Aapajärvi and the cross country skiing trainer and the Ski College coordinator Ilkka Luttunen, who both have the Professional Trainer License. During the year students will also get some tips from other professional skiers or trainers. Training camps, race trips and other training related activities will be organized by the Ski College .

Training facilities

Skiing season in Olos begins on the 20 th of October on 100% guarantee in the company of the top skiers of the world and lasts all the way until the end of May or even the beginning of June. So the length of the season is about 7 months. The total length of all ski tracks in Olos is 80km of which 30 of them have lights. There’s also a great biathlon venue at Olos Ski Center . In addition Muonio have great terrains for roller skiing and jogging/running in the summer time. The school and the community both provide an opportunity to use their gyms 5 days a week for free.

Living in Muonio

The school offers the students an apartment from a rooming house. The students will be living in dorms usually sharing a room with another student and. All of the students in one dorm (max. 8) will be sharing a kitchen, a living room and a bathroom with shower. Besides the bathroom all of the dorms have 2 toilets. There’s also a sauna for everyone to use.

Eating will be provided by the school as well. School provides you breakfast, lunch and dinner on the week and microwave portions of food for the weekends which they can cook at their apartment.

As criterions we ask at least for fair English skills from the student so that he/she will be able to communicate with other students and the staff. The school doesn’t provide skiing or biathlon equipments.

Cost

The price for one academic year in Muonio Ski College is 500€ which includes training, studying, camps, race trips, housing and meals.
