Waterfowler

I met Phoenix for the first time last summer, when I visited his breeder and owner Verena Ommerli in Schwitzerland to fetch a puppy from her. I immediately fell in love with him, for his friendly, social and relaxed appearance. When I saw him work I was even more thrilled. Phoenix is an extremely strong, stylish, fast and devoted worker. He is self-confident, but has plenty of will to please to make him very trainable. Phoenix can work independently in order to find game. He is a real Powerdog!

Verena Ommerli descripes her dog like this:
Phoenix is an extremely kind and loveable dog. On walks he usually runs ahead at race-horse speed, as he has an incredible desire to move; however, he keeps coming back at the same speed to make sure that I am still there! When it comes to working, he is absolutely "steady", no matter as to whether we do dummy work or work on cold game or out shooting. His particular features are his excellent marking ability, coupled with the beautiful "style", "tail action", and "hunting ability", as well as his toughness on all sorts ground and cover (be it brambles, thistles, nettles or other cover – he simply powers through), which he has inherited from his legendary sire. All these characteristics together with his extraordinary nose and his speed when working make him a highly promising dog, with which I am hoping to do well in the future.

Tinka is a very modest, humble and calm dog at home, but she lights up when working. She has been a late developer, but has now started to pay back the investments I have put in her - she is a trusted hunting dog. Tinka has extraordinary hunting ability and real desire to find game. She has excellent nose-work and she handles game very carefully. She is also a skillfull tracker. Tinka is a social dog but doesn't really care to make contact with strange people.

I am waiting this combination to produce labradors that are eager to hunt in any kind of conditions. Who are fast and durable trial- or hunting dogs and pleasant companions. Based on the parents abilities the progeny should be good on finding and handling game and they should have power and strenght to pull through even in difficult conditions.

The combination will produce good-sized dogs with good coat. Phoenix carries the colour yellow, but Tinka's status is not known. Both parents are totally healthy. Phoenix has had an accident with his elbow, which has been scored with minor changes. Tinka has one very healthy litter before and low risk of ED from her pedigree. Puppies from this litter will not have risk to be diseased by PRA, CNM or EIC (see genetest results from parents).
