Firm Team Huskies Huskies for Breeding

OUR FIRM

Originaly the farm was a normal, small home with some cows and reindeers. The farm has always had dogs, the first huskies came in 1980. Dogs were Timo's hobby until 1990. Then Timo started to make short huskydrives for clients. Farming ended in 1993 and the first long huskysafari was made at christmas 1993. That time the farm had 30 huskies. The farm has been slowly adapted more and more to be a destination for guests looking for active holidays. In summer 2005 the farm got a new diningroom for guests as also some new bedrooms. In the future, it is planned that the farm will get still some more accommodation possibilities.

Winter: About 100 sledogs live on the farm, we can build up 18 teams for long huskytours or 15 teams for short drives with 2 persons. We run 3 wilderness cabins for our programs, each of the cabin has 8 beds. We maintenance approximately 300 km special trails for huskytours and for training of sledgedog racingteams. The trails lead through different and beautiful landscapes and are safe for guests and dogs. There are other activities like snowmobil driving, snowshoe walking, offcard cars driving and others which are supporting our huskyprograms. For icefishing we own a lake where we farm trouts. The farm provides thermo clothing for up to 60 persons.

Summer: The farm offers canoe/kayak tours on the river "Ii", an exciting but very save river for beginners, too. The river's waterlevel grants also in very dry summers watersport activities. Our longest canoetour lasts 6 days and is almost 200 km long. The farm has capacity for canoeing groups up to 20 persons. We also provide mountainbike tours. The 5 day-trip lasts over 200 km and is a nice bike program around Syöte Nationalpark. The tour has a lot of natural highlights and shows also a lot of our culture and tradition. The huskyfarm is a cosy and friendly place, where you can spend farm holidays with enough activities around. The farm has great possibilities for daytrips, guests can choose the activity. On the farm is plenty of possibilities to be active or just stay and relax. The farm provides camping equipment for summer for up to 30 persons.

For incentives tours we have teambuilding programs as climbing, paintball shooting, survival trips, etc. Nearby the farm is also the Taivalvaara Nature Fitnesspark located, which is a must for nordic walker. The farm has the equipment and also trained guides to teach and guide nordic walking.

From summer 2006 on we can also provide bus groups facilities and a huskyfarm introduction program on the farm.

Finn-jann was since the beginning specialized on sledgedogs. The farm has always had dogs on the level of top racing dogs of the world. We, for example, organize in the winterseason 05/06 a dogsledge race with more than 10 dogs with european champion title from racing starting. Finn-Jann is one of biggest racing breeding kennels in Europe. For winterseason 05/06 the Finn-Jann racing team will take part in the 6 dog class sprint national cup and the target is to be Finnish champion in 4 and 6 dog class. Finn-Jann has been also one of leading kennels to build standards for care of the working sleddogs in safari use. The farm has organised courses for sledgedog safari companies and guides.

An important fact on our farm is our crew. Normaly guides change jobs in the safari business yearly. In our huskyfarm the basic team has been already together for a long time. For our guests it means a very professional, safety guiding. For the dogs it's very important that they recognise the staff every year and they estimate much. Thats were they get the power to work a hard season with long days. During safari our guests can ask all the questions about dogs and easily it happens that a so long lesson makes that sauna gets cool or the meal in the oven burns! A special spirit on the farm let evenings never be boring.

Thats a short resumé about Finn-Jann Huskyfarm. We have one basic guidline for our work: On a tour with guests in the nature, it can happen what ever happens: material breaks, bad weather occures, etc.. But our crew tries to do whatever is possible to offer an enjoyable unforgetable stay for our clients.. Thats the guidline we have been following since the beginning of the farm - and we still always do.
