Breed club specialty and lure coursing competition same weekend! Simm run preliminaries alone and in the finals got Tupla as his partner. And won :) Sunday was the specialty day. Jenni, the owner of Simm's mother, showed Simm nicely, thank you! Simm won the coursing class males and coursing class bitch winner also. I spend my day by taking blood samples. 18 ibizan samples and 13 pharaoh samples was our total amount. Samples are taken for Finnish research studying different hereditary diseases and problems in dogs and humans. Our mission is to collect as much samples as possible to establish an comprehensive DNA bank for our breeds too. More information of genetic studies in Finland

Today we were in Lieto (Western Finland) in lure coursing trial. The tracks included up and down hills and pretty long straights. Simm ran with his mother Ziggy (Snout Ziggy Stardust) in preliminaries, but unfortunately this wasn't that good pair, because Ziggy was that much slower. In finals Simm ran with Sella (Frontrunner's Gazella) and they were more equal in speed etc. Simm's brother Edo took the win with two great runs :)

SuomiCup was today. It's a lure coursing competition for the last year's best dogs. Four ibizanhounds was invited. Simm ran with Tupla (Snout Nobody' Fool) in preliminaries. It was a great run with both dogs running in nice co-operation. The track was quite long and included brushwood obstacles too :) Truly interesting to watch! Only two dogs were allowed to continue in finals, Simm and Tupla, so they ran the final also together. Unfortunately smartie Tupla remembered the first track and from the begigning decided to take her own route, which of course decreased her points and Simm took the win.

Lure coursing competitions went that fine last year that Simm was awarded both The Finnish Pharaoh and Ibizan hound Club's Lure Coursing Ibizan hound 2006 -prize and Helsinki Sighthound Club's Lure Coursing Ibizan Hound 2006 -prize. We are now planning this year's competitions :) Simm was invited to SuomiCup 2007 so we go there and then we have a trial in Turku in May. Hope we will soon have enough time to take Simm a oval track racing lisence too!

New layout! Winter coursing was today. In preliminaries Simm run with Sella (Frontrunner's Gazella). He knew the field from former years so immediately after the start Simm took a running line too much towards the center of the field. Clever boy but not that high points (in his scale of former competitions). So no final run for us today... Still we had a fun time with nine ibizans running! Congratulations to the winner Rölli!

We got Simm´s official health results today. Simm also went to the vet to get his official papers of knees. Here are the results:

Elbows: 0/0 (normal)
Knees: 0/0 (normal)

Lumbosacral spine (one X-ray picture): normal
Eyes: healthy

15.11.06 Health check day
Our dogs were health checked today. Their hips, elbows, backs and knees were examined. Unfortunately official papers of knees weren´t done for some reason and we have to take our dogs to the vet again (4.12.). One X-ray picture was taken of Simm´s spine (lumbosacral area) and the spine looked normal (official statement of Kennel Club isn´t possible to get to spine pictures of this breed so the result will be "unofficial"). The hip and elbow pictures were sent to Kennel Club for official statement.

Simm´s third birthday! We celebrated Simm by our "traditional" birthday tracking. Here are few pics of Simm along his life. Enjoy! We want to thank kennel Snout for this lovely boy. He has been and is a joy for us!

Finland Lure Coursing Championship competitions were in Mustiala. Simm took 2nd place after Tupla in preliminaries, but managed to take the first place in finals. So Simm is now Finnish Lure Coursing Champion 2006. The tracks included long straights but not many sharp angles. However, they were quite demanding because the ground was soft and wet.  Simm´s brother Edo took his fourth certifiate, congratulations!

Pharaoh and Ibizan hound club lure coursing championship competion were held in Vesanka near Jyväskylä. The track field was nice, not flat at all and offered good visibility :) Tupla took championship again, congratulations! Simm was second with his own record points and also took his fifth and last certificate becoming FIN LC CH!

In Tampere coursing, in Sarkola, "Ännät" (N-litter) showed "Team 0" how things go by taking double win. However, Simm took his fourth certificate, because Kermit and Tupla are LC champions already. It was a hot day, but I liked the track because I was able to see Simm running easily! Congratulations to Kermit The Frog!

Simm was hiking in Ruunaa hiking area, in Eastern Finland,  near the Russian border. We walked Koskikierros Trail, which is about 31km long and winds along the Lieksanjoki River rapids. The scenes were beautiful! Simm seemed to enjoy his trip! The best part was when he saw a marten ;) I´ll try to put some more pictures etc. later. Here are some pics of Simm...

The lure coursing derby was held in Paalimäki, near Kuopio. The Team 0 participants were Helmi, Maisa and Simm. The tracks were extremely difficult (lots of sharp angles etc.). Helmi added DVM-06-title to her title list with two fine runs and got her third certicate! Congratulations Helmi!

The FCI European Coursing Championship 2006 in Mustiala, Finland. 7 ibizans entered the competition. Six Snouts from Finland and one, Snout Notice Me Now, from Netherlands.  The sun was shining and the tracks were long and demanding. Simm got the highest points from the first round, but her sister Helmi made such a amazing run in finals that she won the whole thing! Simm´s brother Edo was second and Simm third. So triple win to Finland and O-litter (aka Team 0)! Way to go Helmi, Edo and Simm!

The show weekend. Simm got EXC CC CACIB and EUROPEAN WINNER 2006 in Helsinki European Winner 2006-show. Spanish bitch Gala De La Sierra De Avila went BOB. In Farkkushow (pharaoh hound and ibizan hound club show) Simm attended champion class, because he got his last CC from European Winner and became FIN CH.  His result was Champion males second Prize of Honour Best male 4th :) BOB was Aitana de la Sierra de Avila and BOS Snout Michel Platini.

Simm attended a lure coursing competition in Espoo. He won with points 232 + 242 = 474 points and certificate! Our next competition will be the International Lure Coursing and European Coursing Championships 2006-competition in Mustiala (01.07.06).

23.04.06 was the Lahti international dog show. There were three short coated ibizans and Simm was the only wire one. Simm, Necronomicon Fifht Element and Necronomicon Fast ´n Fabulous got "very good" and Frontrunner´s Gazella got "excellent", certificate and went BOB (here wires and shorts are judged separetely). The judge was Lotte Jörgensen from Denmark. You can found Simm´s critique under "Hobbies".

Snow is gone and we were able to start tracking again. First Simm had some trouble with the track, but it got better after while :) Winter dusts in his mind apparently... ;)

Simm won prize of  "the most active ibizan or pharaoh hound 2005". The prize was given to Simm for his active participating in many different activities (shows, lure coursing training and competitions, tracking and obedience training), not because of competing in one specific field. This year we will continue on these familiar activities and maybe something new in addition.

Yesterday Simm participated Ohkola Winter coursing competition with his sisters Helmi and Maisa. The competition was pretty demanding, but they all  managed it well. Simm took the first place and his second certificate!
