31.3. 1988

8.35 – 14.30
22° halo, 22° tangent arc

14.30 – 17.50
22° halo, parhelia, 22° tangent arc, sun pillar, circumzenithal arc, 46° supralateral arc, parhelic circle, upper suncave parry arc, 9° halo

The 9° halo was later found from a photograph by Marko Riikonen.

Lowitz arcs were not seen in photographs.

31.3. – 1.4. 1988

23.05 – 03.10
22° halo, parhelia, 22° tangent arc, circumzenithal arc, 46° halo, parhelic circle

The very best lunar display of my early years. No real rarities, but a nice circumzenithal arc anyway.

All the photographs were underexposed. Only the brightest halo forms were visible in the slides. There is no true evidence that Lowitz arcs were in the sky.

27.4. 1988

9.50 – 11.00
22° halo, parhelia, 46° halo, parhelic circle, 120° parhelia, 23° upper plate arc, 23° halo

11.00 – 13.05
22° halo, parhelia, 22° tangent arc, parhelic circle

The bright upper part of the 22° halo in the first maximum was later identified as a 23° upper plate arc.

No sign of Lowitz arcs in the photographs.

11.5. 1988

11.55 – 12.40
22° halo

12.40 – 13.20
22° halo, parhelia, 22° tangent arc, parhelic circle, 46° infralateral arc

17.45 – 18.20
22° halo, parhelia, 22° tangent arc, circumzenithal arc, 46° supralateral arc

18.20 – 20.30
22° halo, parhelia, 22° tangent arc

20.35 – 21.35
parhelia, sun pillar

Lowitz arcs (even though they are in the drawing) were probably not in the sky.

27.8. 1988

14.15 – 17.50
22° halo

18.10 – 18.30
22° halo, parhelia, sun pillar

18.30 – 19.00
22° halo, parhelia, sun pillar, 18° plate arc

19.25 – 20.20
22° halo, parhelia, 22° tangent arc, sun pillar

20.20 – 21.30
sun pillar

Raahe

The bright spot next to the parhelia was so strange that I photographed it. The spot was later identified as a 18° plate arc.
