The Chest of Drawers part 2
Leah Maddoc
After taking the Objects to Ziggurat, we returned to Gallup for one more visit to a local farm. The farm was owned by a family
named Schank, a name obviously of german origin. The farm was quite a large with a lot of livestock. The introduction of the project
comes quite naturally from Mike already.
The handyman we spoke to said the owners were in the cattle fair to acquire a new breeding bull, but the son was home.
Young master Schank was a jolly fellow. Young age of 19 and seemingly without a care. He said he could show us around, but that we had to wait until
his folks would return home on sunday to agree on selling us anything we find. Mike said that was fine, as we could carry on our
quest if we did not find anything in here.
There was more of the Henricksson's masion items in the house, a four poster bed!!! There was also the long-missed second bedend table.
Mike said to the son he was VERY interested on buying these items, and that he would pay handsomely of them.

Mike asked if the boy knew if there was more items like these in the farm area, or perhaps other old furniture. He said he never
pays any attention to this kind of stuff, but that if the stuff was older than twenty years it was not in the house... because his
mother had redecorated the house before he was born. And all the stuff was taken in the stables.
So we asked to see the stables.
Right at entering the stables I felt tingling in my teeth, there was certainly something in the employee's room. It was a tiny tingle, and hard
to pinpoint.

Brock Storm
It was so faint. And the doorway was so low. Trying to focus on the tingle, I almost bumped onto the door-frame, that made me
stumple and I noticed the doormatt being nailed to the floor. The tingling felt more around the matt. I carefully pulled a corner
of the thing, trying not to tear it. There was a bright-white receipt underneath! It seemed as if it had been there quite a long time,
everything around it was all dirty.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jimmy Spencer
Brock found something under the doormatt. It seemed to be a receipt, from 1961! THAT was the Object we were feeling. That must have been
originally in Eddie's pocket or wallet or something. It was an pharmacy receipt, he had bought a bottle of eye-drops. Jacob said the receipt
had been lying there a long time, so all he saw was pitch-black.
I noticed an advert on the bathroom door: the master of the house asked if anyone of the employees wanted to buy this chest of drawers, cheap.
It had a picture attached to it. "That looks exactly like the chest of drawers we had in the motel" Mike yelled.
Unfortunately the kid did not know where the chest of drawers was. So we had to wait until his folks would return.
Leah suggested we used the Key and went after some other Objects and returned here on Tuesday, giving the Mr. and Mrs. Schank time
to settle back home after their trip to the fair.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Michael Monroe
Back to the Ziggurat Complex. Leah asked Joe if there were more Objects around the New mexico area, within a reasonable
driving distance from Gallup, as if we were to return to gallup on Tuesday, we could aswell try to maintain the cover. If someone
saw us in Texas and then in Gallup again, it would not be a remarkable thing. Wise girl.
And there was one in Texas! Right close to my home ranch too! This is were I learnt my little cowboying when I was but only a schoolboy:
The Cloverfield Ranch!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leah Maddoc
We came to the home-turf of Mike. He went all nostalgic and told us many little tales of his past, sighing heavily on each memory,
as most of the locations, buildings he remembered were not there any more.
The Cloverfield Ranch is the biggest livestock ranch there is, at this small town outside the capital. The rumor tells it was the only
ranch out of them all surviving the drought thirty years ago, without having to take a huge loan. The cattle and the people working
there are also the healthiest in the whole region.
"I wonder if it is due the Object they have" Jimmy pondered "In that case it might be tough to get it from them, they'll notice if it's
missing."
I suggested we could get in by telling them Mike was a millionaire and that he wanted to see all the places he spent his childhood in.
But Mike did not think that would give us access to any of the buildings, where the Object most certainly was.
So we decided we needed more information. After few inquiries we learnt the employees of the ranch liked to spend their free hours
in a near-by pub with all-you-can-eat buffet. The simple plan was to go in to eat and casually start a chit-chat with the ranch workers.
That resulted to be much harder than it first seemed. The workers had a special table at the far end of the pub, on the far end considering where our table was that is.
Also, they seemed to be a) Utterly drunken b) Overly excited about some game they were having and c) Very able to grope every passib-by female parts.
So no way for me to be able to sneak in and gather information *sighs*
Several futile efforts later was the closing time of the pub. The workers gathered outside the pub, trying to decide where to go next.
Most of them went ahead to the strip-club, but five of the men said they wanted to be a good shape enough for the Barn Dance tomorrow.
"Those five seem reasonable enough to actually be able to provide information" Mike said "I suggest we all go to the barn dance tomorrow, and try
to speak with them". It was agreed.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jimmy Specer
It was not my cup of tea, being accustomed to city raves, especially as some of the town women were pretty hefty...
"The Dessert of the Week Club" they were called.
Jacob spotted a barbeque booth selling local dainties and went ahead. Mike aroused some attention, being an older gentleman and so Brock was
full-handed with all the ladies swarming around Mike.
So it was me and Leah to locate the ranch workers. We went in and there they were, dancing and having fun. We danced with Leah and
soon the workers took a cigarette break outdoors.
I went to them and started a conversation, asking if they had a lighter, pretending to look work. Not too much later I was in-deep with my ears in a bet. The leader
of the five workers, called John said it was very difficult to get employed to the Cloverfield Ranch, but if he wont the bet he would set, he would
speak for me to the foreman. The bet was set: I was to charm Emma-Sue and be allowed to take her home. I had nothing to loose but all to gain, I thought.
Just hope the girl was not one of the Dessert Club members.
John pointed me to the girl, a fairly good-looking blonde girl. She dressed prude and seemed bashful. One of the good girls, then. No sweat,
it would just take a bit longer.
I went back outside and snapped a summer rose from the bushes and approached Emma-Sue asking her to dance. She accepted the flower
and giggled nervously. When I led her to the floor she gazed upon me with her deep blue eyes and blushed. I have not seen a being of
equal fascination before! And the way she gled on the dancefloor made me in fire. Uhhuh! This was not about the stuped bet anymore,
I wanted this, I wanted her to open to me.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leah Maddoc
Jimmy began to dance with a pretty, young local girl. A bit too naiive for Jimmy's taste I thought, just when John approached me, asking
me to dance. I said yes.
What a charming man! I though he would be all sleezy and without any manners, but he seemed quite continental and well-educated.
After a while I became hot and suggested we'd go out for some refreshment. John, in his white suit, seemed like a night in a shiny armor.
We sat down on a nearby car trunk and begun to talk. Oh he was on the same page with me! It has been so long the last time I felt this connected.
John told me he raised trained cockroaches, and that his guys were the best in town. That was the game they were having in the pub: cockroach racing.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jacob Erez
I felt power rushing through my veins and anger burning in my head. This guy, this stranger was kissing Leah!! My Leah!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brock Storm
What on Earth?? There he was eating the hot-chili-balls like any other guy, next he was rushing towards Leah and this, may I say,
twice his sized guy, smoke coming out of his ears. My job is to protect Mike, but my job is also to protect the whole team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Michael Monroe
Obviously I had missed something, as in the middle of my sentence Brock stormed away. A moment later he returned, kicking and screaming Jacob over his shoulder.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leah Maddoc
What the...??? I was having the time of my life with John, when suddenly out of nowhere Jacob rushes in, his face red, coughing chili-balls all-over.
The next instace Brock was there, throwing Jacob over his shoulder and running back to Mike. What the...?
"Looks like the time to retire for the night" said John "---look, I understand if this comes too soon... but would you like to see my cockroaches?"
Whoa! I thought. A bit fast, yes, but he DOES live on the Cloverfield Ranch, so, at least, I would be able to snoop around. And I -did- want to see his cockroaches..."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jacob Erez
I can not believe this!! Now she leaves with him!!! I need something to drink...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jimmy Spencer
Emma-Sue, what an angel. So young, so pure... so---intrigueing!! All the women I have known were like fast-meals. A quicker behind the trashbin before the husband
saw us... trash. This was new, this feeling. A new kind of excitement! To lure her, to make her inhibitions fall. To take her home, to take her... in secret from her father, to be her first...
But she has a perfect reputation. She is not that easy to convice to let me walk her home.
But, then she spoke: "Jimmy" her voice was soft and full with promise. "--Yes?" I tried to sound cool.
"Jimmy, you may take me home now... if you want."
YesYesYesYesYES!! I yelled inside my head, but wanted to play it cool. "Are you sure Emma? I hear your father is quite strict and I do not want to cause any trouble".
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Emma-Sue
Dear diary. I met the politest and nicest man ever today! His name is Jimmy Spencer, and he is the millionaire Michael Monroe's grandson.
I hit the jackpot!!! He walked me home and did not even try to grope me or anything. And on the porch
we kissed! I told dad about Jimmy and he invited him to Sunday brunch tommorrow after Church. I think I am in love. *little hearts*
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Michael Monroe
So Leah left with this man in a white suit, I was a bit suprised of her choise, but I am sure she is on some lead. She must have been, as she stayed overnight.
And Jimmy took the young lady home, gentlemanly, and returned back to the hotel we had rooms in.
On Sunday morning we all were in for a bit of a surprise, as Jimmy announced he was going to church! So we all went, except for Jacob,
who is jewish and was left sleeping in his room.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leah maddoc
I had a great time! We connected with John in all levels, and he asked if I could stay overnight. I could not figure a single reason why not, so I stayed.
Early in the next morning John showed me around the farm. He even provided me boots and overall, as I only had the dancing dress and shoes with me.
I did remember the other reason why I was there, so I made a scan on everywhere we went.
I get to feed the pigs and hens, that was so much fun! But when we went to fetch water from the well, I felt a strong tingle.
"It's the well, or it is IN the well" I thought to myself." That explains why they had water through the drought, it also explains why everyone are so well and happy here.
I had to return to the hotel to tell Mike about the discovery. John would have wanted me to stay longer,
but I said I was hired to help Mike this weekend, and I was expected to resume work around ten. So I turned to leave, and felt bad about it.
So I turned back, kissed him and said I would meet him after my working day, on dinner. His smile was the brightest I have ever seen.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Michael Monroe
We came back from the church and found Leah in the dining-room, eating breakfast and with a glowing smile.
Jacob had woke up too, but he was not any happier he was yesterday.
Leah told she had found the Object, well she had found WHERE the Object was. Now we had to make plans how to find out what it was and how to
acquire it.
Jimmy said he could sneak in spirit-walking, but that would require him to be tired enough to sleep. We figured we were not in a hurry, so we could aswell
do the spirit-walking this evening, after sunset.
Also Jimmy had this Sunday brunch to attend to and he did not want to rush it. So we agreed to wait until the evening.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brock Storm
Jimmy asked if he could get the Key, as he wanted to go do a little business in New York after his brunch. I said no. Jimmy's little side businesses
are his own headache. I do not want to risk loosing the Key. I suggested he asked Joe to take him, or we all could go there together tomorrow, as what kind of business
is done on Sunday anyways?
He was not too happy about me holding the Key from him, but he complied.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jimmy Spencer
---For now---Brock, for now...
Emma-Sue had asked me to take her away, to show her the World. I was planning on using the Key and taking her to New York, where she could be free.
The brunch went quite well, although in some reason, they seemed to think I was Mike's relative. I promised Emma-Sue, that eventhough I had to leave town alongside Mike,
I would return for her. And that promise I was planning to keep.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Michael Monroe
Leah had promised to go to dinner with this John-guy she ment in the barn dance yesterday. After that she returned to the hotel and changed clothes.
We drove close to the Cloverfield Ranch and Jimmy positioned hilself comfortably on the mattress we had in the van. So we waited him to fall asleep and watched him
through the videocamera lense to see when he had returned.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jimmy Spencer
It was quite dark. regardless of my ghostly-form I was not able to see any better than I could in my normal form.
The well was easy to find in the middle of the front yard. I hesitated a moment at the edge, but then took a plunge into the depths.
Then I realized we had a problem. The well was full of water, it was late night and I had no x-ray-vision. I could not see a thing. AND
as I was in a ghost-like form I was not able to feel my way either. I knew I was still in the well by looking up and seeing the moon through the opening.
But that was all I could see. I hovered as close to the well-bottom as I could and squinted my eyes, to only notice there was nothing interesting on the sand bottom of the well. So I returned back to the van.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Michael Monroe
Jimmy woke up and we drove back to the hotel. Leah asked to be left behind, as she wanted to say good-bye to John.
Before she stepped out we agreed to not pursuit the what-ever-it-was at the bottom of the well. It was in good enough place to be safe.

On Tuesday we returned to the Schank farm. We had phoned in advance, and they welcomed us. Mrs. Schanck was excited about she had so much cash
sitting on her bedroom. She said she was happy to sell the furniture, but we had to wait before fetching them, as she had to go buy a new bed in the
four-post stead.
Mike left with the Mrs. to the bank and they signed some kind of contract, that he had paid for the bed and he would send men to pick it up later.
After that Mike asked her about the chest of drawers, and she said it was her husband's and that she hated it. He had taken it to one of his "hunting-huts".
So Mr. Schank showed us the way to the hut. And there it was, in all of it's glory: the Chest of Drawers!
Jacob tried to read it after we returned to the Ziggurat Complex, but he could not get a thing from it, except for the -eww- ugly naked male buttocks he saw banging each other on top of it.
he said it must be because three of the knob's were missing...??!!
"Separate Objects?" Pondered Mike
