This is my Spitfire when it knew nothing about its upcoming racing career...
Spitfire as it was during it's first racing season '93. Still in blue.
| Rainy Motopark 1994. Appearance of the car has changed a bit since the previous season.
|
Moment of the start at Alastaro '95.
| Same race as in the previous photo. Full battle going on.
|
Alastaro '98.
| Motopark paddock ´99. Spitfire rests with Peltola's Fiat Abarth 1000 BC.
|
Botniaring 2000. A bit tidying needed after loosing a rear wheel.
| 5 weeks later, going strong again at Ahvenisto with a new paint scheme.
|
Ahvenisto 2001. Rear wheel lost again... With less damage than previous
time though.
| Back at Ahvenisto, year 2002. From left to right: Me, Risto Hoikka and Mara Huttunen.
|
Knutstorp, Sweden 2003. In the line-up prior qualification.
| Going a bit sideways at Ahvenisto Taru's corner in the Historic Grand Race 2003.
|
Interior trim work. Winter '81.
| One of the countless engine installations. Seems to be a 1147cc with a single Weber DCOE 42. Sometime in the mid 80's.
|
... and another engine. 1300cc with twin Dellorto DHLA40 carburettors this time in the beginning of 90's. Later this was
replaced again by 1147cc engine as 1300cc one is not eligible for pre '66 historic races.
| DOH! Playing on the race track is dangerous (It wasn't a race, just a track day). Autumn ´93.
|
Taking shape again. Trial fitting of the "new" bonnet
| Some other body parts received also some attention, here the bootlid.
|
Winter ´97. Fitting of the original hard top and 6-point roll cage to replace the Mk3 soft top and single hoop which had been there last few years.
| Summer ´99. Some fine tuning going on.
|
Winter ´02. There was some touch-up painting required again, both at the rear corner...
| ...and left hand side.
|
Winter '03. Home made rear wings and floorpans were replaced by original pattern parts
in order to save some weight.
| ...and some painting was needed again. I'm beginning to be an expert in this...
