"Tekla"

Owner: Miss Janita Leinonen, Littoinen, Finland

Tekla is the very first bordercollie in Finland who had four different champion titles!

Photo: Sirpa SaariThe second one is his brother Zorro. This incredible bitch has A/A hips (excellent), 0-0 knees (best possible), 0-0 elbows (best possible) and clear eyes (as a puppy and an adult). One of Tekla's puppies were found CEA as a puppy, so she is carring that, even though she is healthy herself. She has also passed approvingly the behavior test (BH). Tekla gets very well along with other dogs and with people. Tekla is always glad and happy. She is an alert dog who enjoys doing everything and she CAN'T do anything slowly. She is everything I ever hoped from Visse's puppies and I'm so happy to have such a nice personality with a wonderful temperament! Tekla got 6 pups on December 2000 and 7 pups on April 2003.

In 2004 we suddenly noticed that Tekla had lost her hearing. Vets didn't find any reason for that, Tekla's ears and nerves are ok. The only reason they could thought was some kind of a poisoning or allergic to antibiotics. It was hard to find a way to handle a very fast dog in agility by using only body and handsignals, but we have had a great success even as deaf :)

From a beauty shows Tekla has a title Finnish Show Champion (FIN MVA, FIN CH).

In obedience Tekla is a Finnish Obedience Champion (FIN TVA). It was never boring to train obedience with Tekla.  She was inventive and she really had her own fun in training and competitions. Tekla hasn't ever needed any toys or tidbits in training, she just loves to do.

Agility is absolutely our favorite hobby. Tekla is a Finnish & Swedish Agility Champion (FIN & S AVA). Tekla also has a Caciag from abroad, certificate from Denmark and jumping certificate from Sweden.

In autumn 2000, Tekla belonged to the team, which won the agility team championships in south-west Finland! In September 2001 and 2002 Tekla won an individual competition in championships of south-west Finland, she got  titles PM1-01 and PM1-02. In 2003 Tekla was the third, PM3-03 and in 2004 she was second, PM2-04. In 2004 Tekla won Finnish Open Championships, open SM1-04 and in 2005 she got silver in Finnish Championships, SM2-05.

Tekla is very good in flyball.

We have practiced some water rescue.

As younger one of Tekla's favorite hobbies was a message dog trial. In April 2001 Tekla got a title FIN KVA, a Finnish Working Trial Champion! Tekla was a very fast runner. In summer 1998 she won a speed race that had over 80 partakers (she was only 10 months old)! In May 1999 Tekla won a beginners class in a message dog trial with 293 points out of 300. In September 1999 Tekla won class II with 283 points out of 300. In April 2000 Tekla got the first prize (272 points out of 300) from the highest class and she had a title VK3.

Search and Rescue from ruins we started in January 1999. Tekla has past the suitability test in March 1999 and the basic test in May 1999.

We have done some tracking and it goes very well. She needs tracking skills also in a message dog trial.
