HUOM! 2008 Decathlete's meeting will be held traditionally in Tuorla at 15-17.8.2008. Training sessions offered in agility (instructors: Janita & Jaakko), obedience (instructor: Leena Välimäki) and most likely also in water rescue (confirmed later).
Merry Christmas to all Decathlete´s dog owners , friends and our students along the year! Year 2007 has been full of happenings and also success, includig new Champions, Finnish Championship medals and getting whole Finnish Agility Team consisting only our dogs and breedings. Incrediable achievements, just awesome!! Many of our students have had a lot of success. They have earned rights to compete in higher classes, became Champions and made well even in international venues. It has been priviledge to get to work with you. We hope we get to be as proud of your success also in the future! Congratulations to all of you from your achievements and lot of success for years to come!
Past year has been very busy in terms of agility. We have been training others in agility over 1700 hours. Addition to this becomes our own training sessions and competitions. One can really say we have lived past year for agility. Agility lives deep in our hearts and we wouldn´t have it any other way. So thank you to everybody who has shared our passion with us during past year and trusted to our view of agility and trained with us! We are delighted always to share all we have learned from this great sport along the years with everybody and it is always great to see someone we have worked with to progress and use learned skills and make the best out of them :) You make it all worth-while!

6.12.2007 Juju (Decathlete's Gryffindor) and Veijo Koistinen placed second with great clear round and got their last result needed to take part in next years Finnish Championships and World Team Qualifications! Awesome :) Huge congratulations also for our dear friend Anja, who won this competition with Grim (Tekla´s granddaughter) getting their last leg needed to become Finnish Agilitychampion! Great work!
2.12.2007 Three agilitycompetitions in Helsinki.
In first competition Zen (Decathlete's Sirius Black) and Jaakko Suoknuuti won, Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) and Janita took bronze position, Tekla (Decathlete's Black Velvet) and Janita came fourth and last but not least Ludde (Lunde til Decathlete's) and Jaakko Knuutti placed fifth out of 64 competitors.
Day´s second agilitycourse was won by Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) and Janita. Vimma (Decathlete's Fidelius Charm) and Jaakko Knuutti took third place and Ludde (Lunde til Decathlete's) Jaakko Knuutti also managed to make a clear round placing seventh out of 67 participants.
As usual the third competition was once again held in jumping course. In this competition took Vimma (Decathlete's Fidelius Charm) and Jaakko Knuutti second place, Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) handled by Janita were fourth, Hugo (Never Stop Artist of Decathlete's) and Janita sixth and Tekla (Decathlete's Black Velvet) and Janita fourteenth, all ofcourse with faultless runs. 57 pairs took part. Huge congratulations also to our teammates Niinu with Rhett, who won and became Finnish Agilitychampion!
1.12.2007 Three agilitycompetitions in Riihimaki.
In day´s first agilitycourse took Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) and Janita second place leaving Tekla (Decathlete's Black Velvet) also handled by Janita in third position. In this course there were 81 competitors.
In second agilitycompetition were Zen (Decathlete's Sirius Black) and Jaakko Suoknuuti victorious. Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) and Janita placed fourth. 85 participants in this competition.
Third competition was held in jumping course in which Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) and Janita came in second position. 66 pairs took part in this competition.
18.11.2007 Little Cosmo (Decathlete's Little Cosmo) and Per Hvid Hansen won agilitycompetion and gained their second leg for becoming an Agility Champion! In that same competition placed Thekla (Decathlete's Little Thekla) and Louisa Wibroe third. Little Cosmo and Per managed to make faultless run also in the jumpingcourse, placing third! Magnificent runs from both of you :) Woohoo!!
18.11.2007 Three agilitycompetitions in Turku.
Janita took first three positions in day´s first agiltycourse with Tekla (Decathlete's Black Velvet), Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) and Hugo (Never Stop Artist of Decathlete's) in this order. What a great display... Once again our own dogs denied Hugo for becoming a Champion... (still missing that final win).
Zen (Decathlete's Sirius Black) and Jaakko Suoknuuti won day´s second agiltycourse, Tekla and Janita came third, Cosmo and Janita were in fourth place, Juju (Decathlete's Gryffindor) and Veijo Koistinen sixth and Hugo made also a clear round with Janita placing eight.
Third competition was held in jumping course. Zen and Jaakko took their second win of the day. Juju and Veijo placed fourth leaving Hugo and Janita in fifth position. What a day in terms of clear rounds :) Neither placings were too bad...
17.11.2007 Erre (Decathlete's Raptor) and Heidi-Maria Puolakka had a phenomenal 197 points in obedience novice class and earned the right to compete in class-II! Wonderful result and a great start for your career, just keep up the great work!
17.11.2007 Ninja (Decathlete's Firebolt) and Julianne Kemppainen took second position in agility class-II jumpingcourse, congratulations once again for super fast clear round!
10.11.2007 Sky (Decathlete's Skyknight) and Mari Kaplas won obedience class-I test with nearly perfect score of 194 points and therefore were send to test their skills next in class-II. Congratulations! Keep up the good work!

31.10.2007 Cosmo started limping after practice. X-rays were taken and they showed some thickening in his elbow cartilage. This combined with strainging of the elbow area was causing the pain. No we have to wait and see are we even able to take part in Nordic Championships and what kind of impact this will have to Cosmo´s life altogether :(
28.10.2007 Jaakko Suoknuuti got some great results in agilitycompetitions today. Jaakko ran clear rounds in all three competitions with both Zen (Decathlete's Sirius Black) and Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind). Both have now the double clear round requirement fullfilled for next year Championships! Zen won the first competition earning with that win title FINNISH AGILITYCHAMPION She already had a win under her belt from Sweden and therefore at the same time she became also SWEDISH AGILITYCHAMPION! Haka (Decathlete's Le Livre Blanc) and Tiina Koistinen ran also clear round.
21.10.2007 Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) and Jaakko Suoknuuti took second place in agilitycompetition. In the same start placed Hugo (Never Stop Artist of Decathlete's), also with Jaakko, fourth.
21.10.2007 Haka (Decathlete's Le Livre Blanc) and Veijo Koistinen were part of the RiMA´s canicross team who claimed bronze medal in teamcompetition. Great job boys! Veijo and Haka ran the last leg and managed to work their team up to third position! Awsome...
20.10.2007 Haka (Decathlete's Le Livre Blanc) and Veijo Koistinen placed in respectable sixth position in canicross Finnish Championships! Great performance in competition held in extremely demanding terrain!
7.10.2007 Jaakko Knuutti ran clear rounds in agilitycompetition with both Vimma (Decathlete's Fidelius Charm) and Ludde (Lunde til Decathlete's). You already have quite many clear rounds under your belt for gettig to take part in next years Championships! Congratulations! Keep up the good work!
29-30.9.2007 Cosmo going to school -dvd was selected at Leffis international movies for children -festival repertory.
28-30.9.2007 Agility World Championship in Hamar, Norway. Finnish large agilityteam (Zen (Decathlete's Sirius Black) & Jaakko Suoknuuti, Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) & Janita and Vimma (Decathlete's Fidelius Charm) & Jaakko Knuutti) won team jumpingcourse by a huge margin of fours seconds. Zen and Cosmo succeeded to make clear rounds also in team agilitycourse, due to Vimmas unfortunate disqualification our position in final results dropped to 13. Zen´s had fastest clear round in team agility competition and second fastest in team jumping! Pretty furious pace... :-0
In individual competition Zen and Jaakko were at 9.th position after jumping course. Cosmo and Janita placed 13.th. Vimmalle and Jaakolle had one unfortunate refusal. In agilitycompetition Cosmo managed to make steady clear round placing 9.th overall. Zen and Vimma were both sadly disqualified.

In same competition also Tekla (Decathlete's Black Velvet) and Janita ran clear round placing fourth. In days second competition Zen (Decathlete's Sirius Black) and Jaakko Suoknuuti came second.
16.9.2007 Jaakko Suoknuuti competed alone with three of our dogs as a team in our District Championship Team Competition placing third! In our familyteam Jaakko competed with Zen (Decathlete's Sirius Black), Tekla (Decathlete's Black Velvet) and Hugo (Never Stop Artist of Decathlete's). In individual competition Jaakko and Tekla were victorious in agilitycourse and took third place in jumpingcourse. With these two faultless runs they took second position in overall results in District Championships. Hanna Heikniemi-Patama and Snoopy (Decathlete's Carpe Diem) also managed to make clear round in jumpingcourse taking fourth place.
16.9.2007 Vimma (Decathlete's Fidelius Charm) and Jaakko Knuutti made yet another two clear rounds placing third in both competitions. Also Ludde (Lunde til Decathlete's) and Jaakko Knuutti had faultless round. Great day for all of you, awesome!

8.9.2007 Ludde (Lunde til Decathlete's) and Jaakko Knuutti made phenomenal comeback to agility after beeing unable to do agility for 1,5 years due to a dreadful accident Ludde had. And what a great way they did it! Clear round and second place :) Thougt that Ludde is able to continue her absolutely favourite hobby after such a bad accident just brings tears to my eyes... I am so happy for the both of you!

1-2.9.2007 Finnish agility team had training weekend which we of course attended. Sadly bad news afterwards, because Cosmo had injured himself and got one months sickleave :( Not the best way to get ready for World Championships.

17-19.8.2007 We spent Decathlete's gathering in great weather. Thanks to our obedience instructor Leena Välimäki and water rescue instructors Hanna Heikniemi-Patama and Sari Niemi! All our breeding seem to be natural born water rescue dogs and in agility we got to see magnificent dogs and great runs. We were blessed to spent great weekend among great people. It was also very nice to see few of Hugo´s speedy offspring spending weekend with us :)

4.8.2007 Juju (Decathlete's Gryffindor) and Veijo Koistinen started new season towards next years Championships very well. Two clear rounds at the same day from consecutive competitions! Placings second and fourth. Now the new requirement for beeing able to take part next years Championships from that part is achieved. One has to have total of seven clear rounds in highest class from witch two has to be from consecutive competitions during same weekend. You are just phenomenal :)
1.8.2007 Serie of bad news concerning puppies. Tarmo, puppy from Yoko-Hugo litter, has been diagnosed with OCD :(
21.-22.7.2007 Agility Team Qualification were held in Vantaa nearby Helsinki. After two days and five courses three best large dogs out of 101 competitors were selected in Finnish International Agility Team. Incredible but true; Zen (Decathlete's Sirius Black) and Jaakko Suoknuuti won, Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) and Janita took the second place and Vimma (Decathlete's Fidelius Charm) and Jaakko Knuutti came third! So us three are going to represent Finland in Agility World Championship held in Hamar, Norway 28. - 30.9.2007 and in Nordic Championship in Helsinki 11.11.2007. One could say this is a dream come true as a breeder. One own dog and two own breedings in team, pretty amazing... Both Hugo (Never Stop Artist of Decathlete's) and Tekla (Decathlete's Black Velvet) with Janita and also Juju (Decathlete's Gryffindor) and Veijo Koistinen also made their way to the finalround in Qualifications.
Both Jaakkos agreed to try new method to teach handling moves for their dogs as an puppy without actually performing any agility obstacles. None of us could not imagine that results would be like this. Both dogs in World Team under the age of 2,5 years! Perhaps we have to start to do the planned Agility for Puppies -DVD, so that those who are interested can use same methods. Of course success is always more than just certain training methods. Training, motivation, great dog and handler with good nerves are also essential. This is great opportunity to thank Vappu Alatalo, who has worked with the mental side of all the team members. Your help has been priceless! Many thanks also for Leena Piira and Tanja Kotti who has been taking great care of our dogs physical side, and of course for Cosmo´s breeders for great dog who has the nerves of steel! And Of course Leena Välimäki for letting me use Jatsi to Ludde and making it possible to have such a great working dogs :) We wish also thank everybody for many congratulations we have received. Your messages and hugs have made us so happy countless times during the last few days! And SUPER HUGE THANKS for our greatest and most important supporters, for all our Warriors friends, who are always there to support and cheer on. You really are simply THE BEST! :)

22-28.6.2007 We were competing in island of Gotland, in Sweden for six days: Tekla (Decathlete's Black Velvet) became SWEDISH AGILITYCHAMPION! In addition Tekla won International Agility Certificate and one Jumping Certificate. Tekla and Janita made total of 7 clear rounds. Zen (Decathlete's Sirius Black) and Jaakko Suoknuuti got also International Agility Certificate, Jumping Certicate and Agility Certificate! Agility Certificate means that when Zen gets the last result needed to become Finnish Agility Champion she becomes at the same time Swedish Agility Champion. Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) made 9 faultless rounds with Janita and got two Jumping Certificates. Hugo (Never Stop Artist of Decathlete's) and Janita managed to do two clear rounds. During the week we competed 12 competitions taking 6 wins for our family and our finnish friends took additional 4 wins, so total 10 wins to Finland and 2 for Sweden :-0 We wonder if they ever want to see us again ;) Class-III large had total of 70 competitors in some competitions. Quite a nice trip!
27.6.2007 Erre (Decathlete's Raptor) was sadly also diagnosed with OCD in shoulders and was operated today getting the best possible care. Loose bone fragments were removed from both shoulders. The surgery went well without complications. We hope Erre recovers as soon as possible! Best regards to Heidi-Maria and Janne!
26.6.2007 Jeeves (Decathlete's Nighthawk) was in surgery today because of diagnosed OCD in shoulder. In the operation the surgeon noticed that all joint surfaces were clean and firmly attached to bone. The surgeon saw no reason to do anything to clean joints although in X-ray showed clear marks of existing OCD. Now we all are just waiting little Jeeves to recover and keep him from straining himself too much until one year old. We also hope that Jeeves does not get any symptoms ever again and he can live a happy, healthy and active life beeing able to train with Vappu whatever they desire! That would mean world to us!

29.4.2007 Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) and Janita won jumping class-III agilitycompetition by a huge margin of 0,09 seconds leaving Zen (Decathlete's Sirius Black) and Jaakko Suoknuuti in second place :) In agilitycourse took Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) and Janita second place, Vimma (Decathlete's Fidelius Charm) and Jaakko Knuutti third place and Tekla (Decathlete's Black Velvet) and Janita fourth place. All with faultless runs of course. Days third agilitycourse finished Tekla (Decathlete's Black Velvet) and Janita in second place and Juju (Decathlete's Gryffindor) and Veijo Koistinen took fourth place. Janita also had claimed right to participate in unofficial Turku Tour- agilitycompetition final that was held at the end of the day. Janita won the final with Cosmo and got a 150 eur giftcertificate to a local petshop :) Pretty good agilityday!

1.4.2007 Haka (Decathlete's Le Livre Blanc) and Tiina Koistinen won agility competitions and got to the class III! We have been waiting for this, because they have been so close for so many times... Congratulations for your great course and for getting to the highest class :)
1.4.2007 Agility competitions in Turku. Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) and Janita won the first competition and in the other competition we got double winning to our family. Zen (Decathlete's Sirius Black) and Jaakko Suoknuuti won and Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) and Janita came second. Also Hugo (Never Stop Artist of Decathlete's) and Janita made a clear round and placement was fifth.

25.3.2007 Vimma (Decathlete's Fidelius Charm) and Jaakko Knuutti won once again agility competitions in class III! Juju (Decathlete's Gryffindor) and Veijo Koistinen started just great their career in class III with a clear round and placement 4! Congratulations to littermates, you are so skillful!

18.3.2007 Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) and Janita made three clear rounds in agility competitions, we won both agility courses and came third in a jumping course :)
11.3.2007 Zen (Decathlete's Sirius Black) and Jaakko Suoknuuti made three clear rounds in today´s agilitycompetitions, placing first and second in agility courses and third in jumping course. Also Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) and Hugo (Never Stop Artist of Decathlete's) made clear rounds in the first agilitycourse with Janita taking third and fourth places. In jumping course boys also made clear rounds placing second and fourth. Pretty good day for whole family :)

18.2.2007 Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) and Janita came second in agility competitions, there were 64 dogs taking part to this competition.

5.2.2007 Hugo (Never Stop Artist of Decathlete's) became a daddy! Yoko (Tending Brownie) gave birth to six beautiful puppies, three males and three bitches. The birthweights of the puppies were between 404-454 g. Congratulations for mom and the puppies, who are all fine :)
4.2.2007 Juju (Decathlete's Gryffindor) and Veijo Koistinen made a clear round in agility class II, unfortunately they came this time fourth place out of 58 competitors (only three first clear rounds qualify as an result needed to get to class III). Clear round is always a clear roung, nice work!

8.1.2007 Hugo (Never Stop Artist of Decathlete's) had a birthday, congratulations for 3 years old Hugo the Hornet!
*Cosmo (Tending Magic Mind) was with Janita Leinonen Finland´s best agilitydog 2006 in large categorie :) On the list there was listed 429 large dogs competing in the highest class. The point average from all competitions dog had competed in during the whole year formed the overall rankingresult. The winner got 16 giftsertificates that title to participate as many agilitycompetitions around the country for free. Zen (Decathlete's Sirius Black) and Jaakko Suoknuuti were 9. and Vimma (Decathlete's Fidelius Charm) and Jaakko Knuutti were 15. on the same rankinglist allthough they didn´t start to compete until in July 2006. Quite a achievement less than a two year old sisters to claim such a high placements in such a short period of time!
