Welcome to Bristregal’s website. My name is Nina Janger and I live with my family in Järvenpää, which is just about half an hour drive from Helsinki. From these pages you will find information about my breeding and dogs whose live with us. First I want to say thanks to Sari Julin and Johanna Korpijaakko, whose have done so very good job with these pages during many years! Also I want to express big thanks to all owners of Bristregal dogs! They have done wonderful work by taking care and training their dogs so well. Without you Bristregal success couldn't be possible. Since autumn 2007 my dear husband Kenneth Holmberg has done updates and we both hope you will enjoy visiting these sites. In any case, please, contact me by e-mail at bristregal@pp.inet.fi or by phone at +358 400 962 426. Dogs at home I have had dogs since I was 6 years old. So had my husband. My first dog was Irish setter called “Ira” and my husband has had in their home several Great Danes. My very first bearded collie was a male FI Ch Laggan Black Liner and he was born in November 1986. I just fell in love with this friendly and active breed and in 1991 I finally got my wonderful foundation bitch “Cindy” FI Ch Lawnlake Prettiest Star. She was real show dog and got several group placements and she also was in 1994 BIS in Orimattila show. She is the mother to Bristregal B, C and E litters. I left from Cindy’s last litter her daughter “Donna” FI & SE Ch W-00 EuVW-06 Bristregal Easy Regal at home and she was truly show girl loving so much showing herself. Donna is now in dog's heaven, she passed away in age of over 13 years. She was really wonderful beardie in many ways and we miss her everyday. I have three beardies now at home, "Molly" FI Ch Highflying Straight Flush who arrived from Sweden in May 2006 at the age of 11 weeks and "Boogie" FI Ch Tailwind Papaw Place Your Bet who came from USA in April 2007 in age of 11 months. In the beginning of 2009 Molly got litter with Boogie and I just couldn't let all puppies leave from home so "Zandra" Bristregal Queen Of Regal stayed home with her parents. She has been very successful in shows this far and seems to be quite a character too. Other dogs in the household are lovely blue & tan australian terrier bitch “Sofia” FI & SE Ch Nellyson’s Ikkitikkitavi, whom we imported as a puppy in summer 2005 from Sweden. Then after six months came "Marwin" FI & SE Ch Nellyson's He Dog first just for visiting but we just couldn't let him go back to Sweden so we bought him too. Thank you Tina! Now Marwin is C.I.B & Nordic CH and Sofia's title is Nordic Ch. The youngest family member is Sofia's lovely daughter "Roxy" B. Sound Of Regal who is my husband's treasure. I’m also a co-owner to three Australian Terriers whose live with my friends FI & NO CH JWW-10 B. Rocking Regal "Tilly", B. Super-Duper Redhead "Sofina" and Ophelia's Carmella Corleone "Cara" and two Bearded Collies B. Touch Of Regal "Rudy" and Vallklanens Great Ben Nevis "Ben" which I imported from Sweden as a puppy. You will find more information of these dogs on their own pages. Dogs are a lifestyle to me... So I was six years old when the first dog came to our home and I grow up with that wonderful and lively Irish Setter. First bearded collie came to me 1987 and I have bred dogs since 1994 and already before that I have been a dog trainer in obedience and I have also competed with some of my dogs in obedience, tracking and SAR. I have been activ member of breed clubs and sitting in many committees during many years. So I have experiences in different fields. I have also bred three Giant Schnauzer litters but in future I’m going to concentrate only to Bearded Collies and Australian Terriers. My opinion is that the main thing in breeding dogs is to think very carefully which dogs are good enough to be bred from. It isn't enough if a dog look nice. Breeding dogs is a lifetime trip to learning. I try to get as healthy and sound puppies with good construction as possible and I think it is very important to give puppies many, I mean really many experiences during their first weeks. Socializing puppies before they move to their new homes is very important to me as a breeder. They live always in the middle of family and go outdoors many times a day after the age of 4-5 weeks. I prefer to breed quality not quantity but ofcourse breeder can't give quarantees of everything. Some things are just purely coincidental. Me as a FCI judge After many busy years doing many different things with dogs I tried my wings in the judge course 2009. I passed the final tests in the beginning of 2010 and then I passed the bearded collie collegium in September 2010. Now I have to study very hard some more breeds during next years... I will update my career as a judge to the own page. SOME HIGHLIGHTS Sometimes people ask what is the greatest moment as being a breeder... That is quite difficult to say because there are so many wonderful and special moments but if I have to mention some of them here is the TOP list: Three different Bristregal bitches have been TOP 1 show bearded collie in Finland: - in year 1998 “Sandy” FI Ch Bristregal Born To Be Regal, being also Reserve Winner and second Best Bitch at Helsinki World Winner Show -98 under the judge Mr. Terry Thorn from UK. - in year 1999 “Sani” FI Ch Bristregal Chivas Regal, being also BOB at annual specialty under the judge Ms. Brenda White (Moonhill) from UK. - in year 2000 “Donna” FI & SE Ch W-00 EuVW-06 Bristregal Easy Regal, being also BOB at the Finnish Winner Show. Donna was also the TOP 1 show bitch in year 2003 and the TOP 3 from all. In the year 2006 she was TOP 10 veteran in Finnish Kennel Club competition including all breeds. In the year 2007 she was TOP 4 bearded collie and TOP 1 bitch once again in age of nine years!! And that wasn't all, in the year 2009 Donna was again TOP1 bearded collie in Finland in age of over 11 years and BOS at the speciality show under judges Janet & Mike Lewis, kennel Potterdale. She also was TOP1 beardie veteran the first time this competition was held in year 2010. She has a career which is not often seen. In 2004 at our annual speciality show “Salli” Bristregal Kind of Regal was BOB puppy under the judge Ms. Gill Shrimpton (Robita's) from UK. All in all 21 puppies were entering. Later Salli was the first C.I.B. bearded collie bred by me. In the year 2007 "Haikka" FI & SE & NO CH W-07 Bristregal Limelight Regal was TOP 2 show bearded collie in Finland. In the year 2010 "Luke" FI CH W-10 Bristregal Punk Rocker was BOB in the speciality show under the judge Brenda White (Moonhill) and was also BOB in Finnish Winner show 2010. He was TOP 2 show bearded collie in Finland in the same year. Something really special has happened with FI CH W-10 "Zandra" B. Queen Of Regal who started her career so unbelievable well. During the first show year she was in 10 shows in Finland winning everytime CC and being at least third best bitch. She was placed fourth best in group in age of 16 months, she won BOB young dog prize in beardie speciality, gained two CACIB's and crowned the year being BOS in Finnish Winner show having title W-10. I always will remember when this girls was born, she was one minute old when I told to my husband "This girl stays at home". Bristregal beardies won the breeder classes at Helsinki the World Winner Show 1998 under the judge Mr. Terry Thorn from UK. Eight breeder classes were entered. FI Ch Bristregal Excellent Touch is the youngest beardie, who has gained champion title in obedience at the age of 17 months. Since then he has been every year the TOP obedience beardie during years 1999-2006. What a great achievement Aila!! So far the only beardie having result in the highest class in tracking has been FI Ch JK2 Bristregal Chick And Trim. Great job Saija! In the first Giant Schnauzer litter there were a group winner male "Alvari" FI Ch Bristregal Already Steady, who also got two first prize results from the highest class in SAR. His sister "Muska" Bristregal Always Regal gained champion title in obedience. The very first Bristregal australian terrier litter was born in April 2003 and there are three champions: FI Ch Bristregal Jazz And Jive, who also has been BIS 2 in International show, FI Ch Bristregal Joy of Regal and FI Ch Bristregal Johnny Be Good. "Daisy" FI Ch Bristregal Joy Of Regal was TOP 2 show aussie bitch in year 2005. "Tuho" Bristregal Nice And Spicy was best male puppy in Aussie Speciality show in year 2008, in the same show his father Marwin was BOS. Later Tuho was also the first C.I.B. australian terrier bred by me. I am also a bit proud of having GROUP winner in all three breeds which I have bred. But thinking about the most special moments, those sure are when owners of my breedings are happy with their dogs and they have loving and caring homes, they are held as a member of family. Not just for showing or working. It is wonderful to do co-operation with people who think the best of their pets. Thank you all for that!
