J.J. Fox:

Fox B
     J.J. Fox Banker's
Banker's Tobacco
This is today together with Plantation Evening my favourite Latakia blend. Today made in Denmark by Petersen&Sørensen. I am sorry to say this, but it is not as good as the original from J.J.Fox, which was an exceptionally balanced and full bodied mixture, which includes in addition to the normal English blend ingredients also Cuban leaf from Havana. A reason why Craig said he cannot try cloning it! Dan Pipe sells it DEM 12.50/50g tin. McGahey's still had some time the original from J.J.Fox available after DP already began selling the original!

J.F. Germain Esoterica Tobacconiana:

Penzance (English)
"Finest Virginias, choice Turkish and Orientals and Cyprian Latakia,
all hand blended together, hard pressed and broad cut into thick
flakes." One of the finest traditional English blends.
"Krumble kake" like Kingfisher made by Germain for Butera.

Peacehaven (Virginia blend)
An elegantly flavoures flake comprised of six Virginia tobaccos,
light in colour and rich in taste. Exceedingly mellow and easy to rub."
Mighty taste smoked SLOWLY!

Dunbar (Virginia-Perique)
A mature recipe of seven types of Virginia tobaccos blended with
Louisiana Perique, lightly pressed for several days to mellow the
mixture, then cut into flakes and rubbed up." Yummy!

Tilbury (Virginia blend)
"A harmonious blend of Golden and dark Virginias, with small portions
of Burley and air-cured leaf. Matured by a special process over 100
years old, producing a unique natural aroma and a piquant flavor."
A little Burley does not spoil this excellent blend, instead, astonishinly
enough brings its slight nice add to the blend.
Butera K
   Butera's
  Kingfisher
Kingfisher, made for Butera Virginia, Burley and Perique in "krumble kake" Here is one of a mighty blend sold in 50g tins! I cannot understand, how a blend tasting like this can become from the named ingredients. Absolutely one of my favourites!
The "Krumble Kake" cut is perhaps the friendliest for a pipester as it is very easily rubbed to the most suitable puffing roughness. This very cut is also used in "Penzance".

A&C Petersen:

Escudo
  The classic Escudo
Escudo (Virginia-Perique)
One of the most classic blends is today "Escudo Navy De Luxe" made today by Danish A&C Petersen, originally it came from Cope's. It has got its name according to the Portugese coin. The tobacco is in round flakes, which resemble an old coin with its dark, rusty brown colour and regular round form. A skillful pipester makes a roll out of a couple of coins depending of the size of his pipe and pushes it vertically in the tobacco chamber. Perhaps he just rubs a little loose tobacco on the top - lights carefully using the charring light with two matches - and lets it smoke - very slowly and enjoyingly. The experience is unforgettable.
My only worry being: Why in the earth have I not familiarized myself earlier to this wonderful blend!

Gawith,Hoggarth & CO, Lake District, Great Britain

Lately I have bought in bulk 500 g packets "Brown Flake" from
the Swiss Synjeco AS. Tarek Manadily is an excellent host serving his clients like kings like
Danish Jesper Klith from FF-Piber. Brown Flake consists of various Virginias and in addition
to also some 10% of Malawian Burley. This blend comes in 6" flakes, lights and burns easily
and peacefully into light gray ash. Its taste is well balanced and it is not too mild nor strong.
It jas the perfect kick for me. Brown Flake has rapidly risen to one of my alltime favourites
together with Escudo. Warmly recommended!

The Irish Peterson:

Univ.Flake
   Peterson's
University Flake
University Flake (Mahogany, Burley, Perique)
Quite a strong blend which I happily smoke every now and then but as a regularly smoked blend it is too much! In fact, I added this as more of a curiousity!
Peterson's slogan for this flake blend is: "Created by Peterson for the thinking man". Well, I have been thinking about this "Mahogany". I even asked in the "a.s.p." about it but didn't get better answer than that "Mahogany" should be a specially fermented Virginia by the help of which the color and taste of the leaf gets darker.
I like this rather strong flake by Peterson. I do not think there are any casings in it. It is 100% pure tobacco to me. Just take your time when smoking it!
