Tämän insinöörityön tarkoituksena oli laatia ohjekirja Chryslereiden sekä Jeeppien moottorin- ja itsediagnoosijärjestelmien toiminnasta sekä niiden testaamisesta DRB III -diagnoositesterillä. Ohjekirja suunniteltiin Aro-Yhtymä Oy:n sekä valtuutettujen merkkikorjaamoiden käyttöön siten, että sitä voidaan käyttää apuna koulutuksessa ja sillä voidaan helpottaa korjaamoiden työtä
DRB III -testerin käytössä.
Ohjekirja jaettiin kahteen osaan, teoriaosaan ja mittausosaan. Teoriaosa sisältää moottorinohjausjärjestelmien- , itsediagnoosijärjestelmien- ja ajoneuvoväylien toimintaa sekä lopuksi DRB III -testerin käyttöohjeet. Teoriaosa laadittiin valmistajan korjauskäsikirjojen, diagnostiikkakäsikirjojen sekä muiden asiaa koskevien julkaisuiden perusteella. Teorian esittämiä asioita tarkastettiin myös suoritettujen mittausten perusteella. Esitetyt tiedot ovat vuosimalleista 1999 -2000, mutta suurin osa niistä koskee myös vanhempia malleja. Teoriaosassa on otettu huomioon myös sekä malli- että moottorikohtaiset eroavuudet.
Mittausosa laadittiin DRB III -testerillä suoritettujen mittausten perusteella
moottorikohtaisesti. Sitä voidaan käyttää apuna suoritettaessa moottorinohjaus- sekä itsediagnoosijärjestelmien testaamista. Mittausosa kirjoitettiin taulukko-muotoon, jossa vasemmassa sarakkeessa on DRB III:n näyttö ja oikeassa suomenkielin selitys näytön sisällöstä, kyseisen komponentin toiminnasta sekä ohjearvoja.
Laadittu ohjekirja on hyvin kattava ja teoriaosassa esitetyt tiedot ovat luotettavia.
Mittausosan moottorinohjausjärjestelmiä koskevat DRB III:n näyttöjen merkitykset sekä ohjearvot ovat myös luotettavia, mutta BUXOBD-järjestelmään liittyviin
näyttöjen merkityksiin on suhtauduttavat varauksellisesti, koska niissä on
pieniä puutteita sekä hieman epävarmaa informaatiota.

The purpose of this graduation thesis was to prepare a manual of the operation of Chrysler`s and Jeep`s powertrain control and on-board diagnostics systems as well as testing them with DRB III scan tool. This manual was planned to help Aro Yhtymä and authorized dealers train personnel and use DRB III.
The manual is divided into two sections: the theoretical introduction and the measurement section. The theoretical section handles the operation of powertrain control systems, on-board diagnostics systems and the data buses of a vehicle. At the end of the section there is a DRB III user manual as well.
The theoretical section was made on the basis of Chrysler workshop manuals, Chrysler diagnostics manuals and other publications handling the subject.
In addition, the theory was proved with measurements. The presented data includes year models 1999 - 2000, but most of it covers older models, too.
The measurement section was made on the basis of individual engine measurements with DRB III. This section gives advice on the testing of powertrain control and on-board diagnostics systems. The section was compiled
into a table, where the left column covers DRB III display and the right column the significance of the display in finnish, the operation of the component and its ratings.
The prepared manual is comprehensive and the data in the theoretical section is reliable. The significance of DRB III display and ratings of powertrain control systems are also reliable in the measurement section, but the significance of BUXOBD-systems should be taken with reservations.
