Projects

Toikka Oy has worked on several national and international projects:
- involved in European Space Agency (ESA) Earth and Space Explorer Missions, such as MIRAS and PLANCK,
- measurement campaings of remote sensing of ICE and SNOW,
- military research projects.

MIRAS is a Microwave Imaging Radiometer with Aperture Syntesis intended for Earth Observation of the second Earth Explorer Opportunity Mission named SMOS, dedicated to the observation of Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity.
Toikka Oy is participating to construct a Noise Injection Radiometer NIR for calibration and verification of the aperture synthesis radiometer and measurement results.

ESA SMOS satellite is launched in 2009..

Mission PLANCK will observe the cosmic microwave background radiation of the Universe.
Toikka Oy has contributed the Mission in constructing the 70GHz radiometric receivers.

It is now planned to launch Planck in 2007 together with ESA's Herschel satellite.
